Sad Night for Manchester Masonry as Britannia Lodge 3005 Sounds Its Final Gavel.
Sadly on the 17th January 2020 Britannia Lodge number 3005, a lodge with 116 years of rich, vibrant history held its final meeting at Manchester Hall.
The mood within the lodge room was somewhat sombre; however, the members of Britannia were determined to provide their lodge with a very dignified send-off.
The Secretary delivered a brief history of Britannia Lodge to those in attendance.
Worshipful Bro Mark Davis, Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Manchester Area, accompanied by a district deputation, then addressed the brethren before removing the lodge warrants.
It was an emotionally raw night, some of the members of Britannia lodges had been a part of the lodge’s history for over 40 years, and although most of the brethren had found new lodges, there was an unfathomable feeling of sadness for the loss of their mother lodge.
Though now closed, Britannia Lodge 3005 will live on in the memories of Manchester Masons as part of the rich history of Freemasonry in The Province of East Lancashire and the Manchester Area in particular.
