However, there are some golden threads that run through the very heart of why someone would join the Freemasons. No matter who you sit next to in a Lodge meeting, they will have the same life values and desire to do what they can for good causes.
Freemasons adhere to a high moral value and strive to make themselves better. Saying that Freemasonry is a hobby and as such you need to enjoy it. If everyone had a dull time and didn’t enjoy attending Lodge meetings, then no-one would be a Freemason.
Joining Freemasonry means that you automatically widen your circle of friends. It brings together people from all walks of life and employment backgrounds, who may not have met during the course of day to day life. In most Freemasons’ Lodges, you will find builders, lawyers, doctors, computer programmers, healthcare professionals … the list goes on.
It is a common misconception that you need to be a rich man to join the Freemasons. That is just not the case. After paying for your annual subscription and the dinners you attend, you give what you can to good causes. Every member donates privately within the Lodge and no-one knows if you have put in £1 or £100.
Freemasonry is a wonderful, global organisation that quietly donates large sums of money to good causes.
If that wasn’t enough, we have a great time doing it as well.
